UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I was talking with a friend yesterday about my philsophy on life, love and relationships. She suggested that I have much to blog about and so here I am.
I don't think I can fully recapture the passion of the conversation yesterday but I will give it a go.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I'd have to say that I am not satisfied with the traditional view on love and relationships. When I say traditional, I mean the way that people think they are not complete until they have met 'Mr Right' or 'Miss Right'. I certainly hope I am a complete person (in Christ) regardless of my maritial status. I'd hate to think that I have 'searched' my whole life for someone who should have, would have, could have completed my life.
I don't mean to say that I am opposed to marriage or the sacred and exclusive relationship a man has with his wife... but, what I do mean is that another person can not complete us. Only God can complete us!
I think it's great that God has given us the institution of marriage. I think we underestimate the importance and significance of that relationship. I believe that "two are better than one". But, I think we need to begin with who we are in Christ.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I really believe that God has called me to minster to those who are broken-hearted... and over time, I have come to realise that so often the people who are broken-hearted are those who have tried to allow another person to make them complete.
The only way we will ever be complete is when we are in relationship with Jesus. When we allow Jesus to heal us, and make us whole.
When we allow Jesus to do this, he makes us into the most attractive, and complete people.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I think relationships are God's way of showing us himself and with that in mind, I hope that my life reflects the restoring power of Christ.
Now, I did say to my friend (yesterday), I am only working through these thoughts and I certainly have not arrived at a complete answer or decision about these things. This is my philosophy in progress.

Spring is in the air

So much is happening in my world. I have had many 'major and minor' keys in the last few weeks. One major key is that I have just 58 days till I find out my appointment. I am overjoyed about this occasion as I am so looking forward to finding out where God would have me be for the next couple of years. I am so amazed that he would entrust his work to me. I am grateful that he is my partner and he will never leave me nor forsake me! What a great promise.

Another key ( I don't know whether this is a major or minor one) is that I think I might go back to Africa again one day. It's a risk, I know. As you may or may not know, I went to Tanzania for three months in 2002. During that time I discovered many things. I had anticipated that I would go to Africa and save the lovely people... instead, they taught me more about myself and how much I didn't know about spirituality. I went to Africa with such a narrow mind and came out completely changed. In some ways I was bruised and battered (spiritually) but I think it was all for my good... and I am now seeing the benefits.
Anyways, so I think I might go back one day... though, it will be in a different capacity and with much more wisdom.

I have another major key. My friend, Bec is coming to my commissioning. I am most excited about this as I have not seen her for over a year and she is coming all the way from NZ for this special occasion. I am just so excited.

Now, do I have a minor key to share with you? Let me see...hmmm.
Okay, I was sick last week. I have library duty (at college) tonight and I have stations this Friday. This means a very early start! eek. I don' t like early starts when its cold. But, spring is in the air!

cold weather and me don't agree

I am back from my winter holiday. I didn't go snow-boarding but I did play in the snow. Which was pretty huge in itself, considering everyone else I was with stayed in the car. I will attempt snow-boarding next time I go to the snow.
I am really looking forward to going back to college. is that crazy or what?
I mean, I was hanging out for holidays and now I am ready to get back and tackle all that is ahead. I think it's because i can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I found this new kitkat chocolate bar today. It's got peanut butter flavoured filling. I am very excited and I might go and try one now.

There's not much else to say... maybe if I tried snow-boarding I would have an awesome story to tell.

Winter Holidays

I'm a bit slack with this blogging thing but it truly is a great way to communicate.
I am on holidays at the moment and enjoying every moment I have to rest and take it easy.
I have just six months to go at college and then I will be Captain Emma. Doesn't that sound scary?
At times I have wondered how God can use me and then I am reminded that he is about the business of taking what the world views as foolish and weak and using them to build his kingdom. So I say, "God, use me to build your kingdom!"

Anyways, I'm off to the snow next week. I am going to attempt snowboarding but I suspect I will chicken out. It's not that I plan to be scared of having an accident and spending six weeks in a cast... but, I don't want to subject myself to pain and humiliation. If I can overcome this obstacle, I will give it a go.

Shake your sugar supply

We had a super time last night.
Heather, Anita and I ended up going to Koorong, eating Thai for dinner and getting lost in Sydney. It was a blast. We laughed so hard, I had to pull over the side of the road.

Earlier in the day, we went to this 'swish' place for a drink (the non-alcholic kind). We sat at a table that was a bit unstable and the sugar bowl fell off and smashed all over the floor. It was so bad... and yet, so funny!

Have you ever heard of the band, 'raze'? They sing this song called, Shake your shoulders tonight. For so long I thought they were singing, Shake your sugar supply.

I am moving up in the world.
Last week I discovered ebay and this week, I have my very own blog.
I must say a very big thank you to Heather who introduced me to the wonderful world of blogging.

Heather and Anita are coming 'round for dinner and we might play my new phase ten masters edition card game too. It will be fun and exciting!!
